Madison Kate Phelps

Things have changed drastically since I last updated this blog. We have added a new family member to our family! I guess I should start from the beginning since this mainly is for Madison to read later...if I end up making this into a little baby book for her. ;)

After a miscarriage last summer we finally found out we were pregnant again in September with Madison, who was due June 10, 2013. We were overjoyed to say the least and very blessed that it happened so quick. The pregnancy was an absolute breeze! I would sometimes forget I was even pregnant till I looked down and saw my growing belly, felt her kick or felt her sweet little hiccups.

Below is our first sonogram of our sweet Madison!

On January 11 we had another sonogram and found out she was a girl! We were so excited and went to NorthPark Mall and shopped away!

On June 4 I left school a tiny bit early to go to my last weekly doctor's appointment before my due date. I had picked Jonathan up from his work and we headed to my appointment thinking I was going to be in and out real quick. When we got to the doctor's office we didn't have to wait long till I was called back to get checked. I did the usual pee in a cup, weigh myself (only gained 20 pounds!), and get my blood pressure taken. That's when everything changed. My blood pressure was very high even though I felt great! Dr. Speight quickly came by and checked it her self and told us that she would have to induce me that day! We were both beyond shocked. I even asked if I could just rest for a minute to see if my bp would go down but they said nope! We headed straight to labor and delivery to get checked in. We had to make a million phone calls while we waited to get checked in. I also had to make sure my class at school was taken care of for the last day and a half left in the school year. After we checked in and I got hooked up to all the machines Jonathan left to go home and grab our bags.
I wasted no time in getting an epidural after 4 painless contractions. I am not one for pain and figured why not just get it now and not suffer! ;) By this time it was around 7pm that evening and Jonathan finally got back to the hospital. Madison ended up being sunny side up but head down. They tried everything to make sure she would turn face down but she never did. By 2am on June 5 they had me start pushing. I only pushed for about 10 minutes until Madison's heart rate went above 200 and they decided that a c-section was the way to go. By 2:39am Madison Kate made her appearance!!

My sweet red haired child!

The proud daddy!

The best OBGYN...Dr. Speight! She happened to be on call that night, I kinda wonder if that was another reason for induction too...eh probably not! ;) Love her and beyond happy she was on call!

I was beyond thankful that I had a c-section! Besides getting sick on the table while they were sewing me up it was fairly easy! I will say that I was very scared I was going to feel them cut me open, I guess I watch too much crazy television. Jonathan's mom and dad were at the hospital the whole time and my parents drove 6 hrs and got in at 4am just in time to see us before we went to our recovery room. Madison is the first grandchild on both sides.

We stayed in the hospital till Saturday, June 8. We enjoyed our stay, as much as you can when you are in a hospital but we were definitely ready to come home. We had many friends come and visit and had amazing nurses and doctors taking care of us.

I had to make sure Madison had the best going home outfit! I found this adorable outfit on etsy! She was definitely the cutest baby there at the hospital and got many compliments...I think it also helped she happened to be the only girl there the day we left too! ;) We are so in love with her and can't wait to watch her grow into a Godly Christian woman!

We went to Horseshoe Bay Resort for the weekend to celebrate my birthday!

I turned 30! I had a weeklong celebration! My dad sent me this cake to my school!

Also got these flowers at school from the man!

A few days after my birthday we had a big cookout with our friends to celebrate more! I also got another super cute cake!

It's been a while...

I haven't had the need to blog much lately but thought I should throw one out there anyways! ;)

Thing have been pretty busy! School is back in full swing! I am enjoying my class this year more than the past few years. I feel like I have a new burst of energy this year! I am loving finding all these new ideas to do through blogs and pinterest! Here's a quick pic of my classroom door this year!

Mrs. Phelps Sweet Shop

I definitely can't do a post without my "baby"! Bailey is 6 months old today! And is cute and annoying at the same time! We do love her so much still! Ha!

Her first trip to the boat!

Another thing I am loving right now (along with the rest of the girl world) is pinterest! I found it 2 yrs ago while I was wedding planning but had no clue what it was till a few months ago. It's so addicting but amazing for finding new recipes, crafts and teaching stuff! Here are a few things I have made from pinterest!

Chocolate chip pumpkin cookie bars....soooo good! Kinda has a cake texture.

Now if I took a pic of all the school stuff I have done/found from pinterest we would be here a while. So I won't do that!! ;)

Happy 3 day weekend!!

My summer so far...

has been a whole lot of nothing really! ;)

For the first month we kept our in-laws dog because they went to see family in Virginia. They have a chocolate lab named Katie. She is a very sweet dog and potty trained! It was a little frustrating at times trying to keep Bailey from annoying Katie so much. But we managed and I think they are somewhat "friends" now but that could be pushing it. I will say that I will never have two dogs much less one that sheds as much as a lab! While Jonathan's parents were gone to Virginia his granddad passed away. He was in VA also which is the reason why his parents were up there. It was a blessing they were there for his last couple of weeks of life. Jonathan ended up flying to VA for the funeral while I puppy sat!

Bailey and Katie in the backyard sitting still long enough to snap a picture!

I was able to go to San Antonio for a weekend to see my best friend from college and her daughter! It was a very short trip and I learned a lot about living with an almost two year old for the weekend...
-everything revolves around nap time!!
-don't say the word swing as you are walking by it, then you will have to stay outside and swing with them
-don't playfully teach them random body parts such as boobies and armpits! ha! It was only for fun but she loves to say armpits now! ;)
-you only watch what they want to watch...yeah i don't know how my "mommy friends" watch some of those shows...they are so annoying! I guess you do what you gotta do!
-don't even bother picking up the play room while they are still awake because they will destroy it in a matter of seconds! D'Lynn warned me about that but I still did it anyways thinking I was "helping" her! lol
-their sweet hugs and kisses are so precious especially from my favorite almost two year old!

D'Lynn and Brooke also came to Dallas two weeks later to see family and they stopped by my house to play for a little bit! It's so good to see them twice in two weeks!

My parents came to visit for a few days as well. We grilled out steak and cooked some live lobsters. It was delicious!!!! My mom and I also went and shopped in downtown Grapevine which was a lot of fun despite the heat! It did sprinkle a little though! ;) We went into one store and it smelled AMAZING so I asked the lady working what that smell was. She pointed me to this candle...
It is definitely the best candle I have ever smelled!!! I just had to buy it! I got the medium size but now I wish I got the large one! I want to burn it all the time but I also want it to last so I only let myself light it every now and then! ;)

I also bought myself some white hydrangeas from Central Market! Let me just say that Central Market really does have the BEST flowers!!! I wish I would have had them do my wedding flowers! They are so fresh and they last quite a while!!! I have had these flowers for over a week now and they are still gorgeous and are now HUGE! There are only 3 hydrangeas in this pic. When I bought them they were half this size! I need to figure out how to dry them properly! I think I might be stopping by CM more often to buy myself flowers! ;)

Besides buying flowers I have bought Bailey three outfits and a few bows! She looks so cute in them. Her favorite by far is the easter egg looking one! She will actually wear it for quite a while before she gets tired of it! I can't wait to find her something cute to wear for Halloween and Christmas! ha!

My favorite is this red and white stripped one but she chewed off one of the straps! lol

That's my summer so far! Not a whole lot going on at the Phelps' household! I am starting to get my ideas rolling for this upcoming school year...just started to this past week! I haven't been to school yet but I have been tempted too! I have told myself that I am not allowed to go up there at least until August! My theme for my classroom (or at least for my door!) is a sweet shoppe! I have some super cute ideas that are already underway with that thanks to etsy and oriental trading! lol Enough about school! I am going to enjoy the last month or so of summer, wishing I was on a beach in Hawaii like last summer! :-)

Our First Anniversary!!

It's FINALLY been one whole year that Jonathan and I have been married! I cannot believe it's been a year and how fast it has passed! Jonathan and I had a low key celebration but a very nice one!

We exchanged gifts in the morning. I got him an Orient Blue Mako watch that he has been wanting for a while now and a fun card!

Jonathan completely surprised me with a handmade gift!!! Those mean a LOT more to me than something bought! He got a jar, scrapbook paper, and confetti strips from Michael's. Then wrote 32 small notes/quotes about love and stuck them in the jar. I am supposed to open one a day. And he even used our wedding colors for it all!!! I absolutely LOVE it!!! And I got some pretty flowers as well!

Later in the day we went to Matador Meat and Wine and got some steak then off to Central Market to get the rest of our dinner. We ended up getting twice baked potatoes and asparagus! It was nice not having to actually cook it...just warm it up in the oven!  Gotta love me some Central Market!! ;) Jonathan did cook the steak though! And of course it was all super delicious!!!

My sweet husband!!

For dessert we had our wedding cake! The bakery, Delicious Cakes, that did our wedding cake said we could come back on our first anniversary and they would make us our wedding cake for free so we wouldn't have to save the top tier. So of course I went and picked up our cake on Saturday. We also had them make the groom's cake as well but we paid for that one! The groom's cake was the best...it was mexican chocolate cake! My cake was princess cake with strawberry filling...still very good!

Here are our actual wedding cakes from our wedding....

I was talking to one of my friends, Taren, and she said that on every anniversary her and her husband take a picture and stick it in a photo album. So I decided to copy her idea and do the same. Of course its going to take a long time to fill up a photo album. But here is the photo we are going to put in the album for our first anniversary!

We also watched our ceremony and reception highlight video that Jonathan put together himself last summer. It was such good memories and I couldn't help but think how much I would just love to relive that day...just the day not the whole planning part! lol Here is our ceremony highlight video....(couldn't get the reception video to work!)

And just for fun....this is our time lapse video Jonathan set up in the atrium. Basically this camera took a picture every 30 seconds or so...not really sure. But when you put it all together it kinda looks like a video! He had set it up the day before while we were decorating.

Jonathan and I talked about how blessed we are to have the life we live and that we get to live it together! I cannot thank God enough for all the blessings he has given us this first year of marriage! We have done many things and gone to so many different places in the last year! It makes us excited to see where this next year will take us!

Miss Bailey

So we have had Bailey almost 3 weeks now and I haven't given her away yet! Yay! ;) Those of you who know my history with puppies, knows that's a big deal! haha!  We love Bailey and will never give her up although I can't say I haven't thought about it when she pees on my carpet instead of outside on the grass! (Bailey is a mini goldendoodle who will weigh about 25-30 pounds full grown....right now she weighs a whopping 4 pounds! lol)

It's funny to watch her explore her surroundings, watch her jump and run. She loves the door stop and can't stop barking at it. She has also done great sleeping at night. I was really worried she would whine all night long but she hasn't done that at all. She will whine sometimes when we put her in the crate at night or when we leave but she stops pretty quickly afterwards. The potty training is coming along. She does pretty good most of the time. But she has had her share of little accidents. I do wish I could stop her from nibbling at things but that's a puppy for ya. I can't wait till she is older and is potty trained and doesn't try to bite my toes! Little puppies are definitely cute, and of course ours is the cutest, but I will be glad when the puppy phase is over! :) Here are some pictures of the cutest dog EVER!!!! (I can be biased right!?!) lol Did I mention Jonathan likes to call her B-dawg! Ha!
