6 months!

Today is officially 6 months or half a year since Jonathan and I have been married! Saying half a year seems so long to me! This 6th month as been super busy. The best thing we have done is celebrate our first Christmas together as a married couple! I will have another post about our Christmas road trip later. Jonathan and I also got to attend our first wedding as a married couple! It was so much fun and different going being married than being single. Whenever I went to a wedding being single I would always imagine what my wedding would be like or what I would do, etc. But at this wedding it just reminded me of my wedding day I already had and all the good memories that have come with it. I wish I could just replay that day over and over! I think I look at our wedding pictures at least once every few weeks!

Here are some pictures of my good friend, Lesli's wedding! She got married in San Antonio on December 18. It was a beautiful Christmas wedding and it was so good to see so many friends from college!

The girls from our sorority who came to the wedding!

 You looked beautiful Mrs. Pitts!

While we were in San Antonio, we had to visit with D'Lynn and Brooke! A trip to SA is definitely not complete without seeing them! Jonathan also got to try out his brand new Panasonic GH2 camera on all of us!

I LOVE this pic of us two together!

Christmas Date Night

So this past Sunday Jonathan and I had a Christmas date night! We started off by making some gingerbread cookies to decorate...this was actually Jonathan's idea! I found this recipe online. They aren't for making actual gingerbread cookies but we made it work and they were really good. The actual gingerbread men we made were thin so they came out a little crunchy but the regular cookies we made were super soft and yummy! They have a mild ginger taste to them which I like. Here's the recipe: Big Soft Ginger Cookies

Jonathan did all the cutting out of the gingerbread men/women! hehe Here's our decorated cookies!

Jonathan's cookies.... ;)
And obviously these are mine...

We also went to Starbucks and got some caramel apple spice ciders and went to look at Christmas lights. It's a MUST that we get our Starbucks drinks before we ever look at Christmas lights...it also helped that it was cold that night because it made it feel more Christmas-y. We were trying to find a close, good place to look at lights since it was getting pretty late. So we ended up in Richardson in some neighborhood that had super cute lights then we just went back to Deerfield in Plano to look there. These pics are from Deerfield. They are not very good since I took them with my iphone.

Such a perfect evening with my husband! I am definitely looking forward to spending our first Christmas together as husband and wife! ;)

Just randomness....

So I was looking through my iphone pics and noticed some pictures that I had wanted to blog about but haven't yet because I keep forgetting. So why not blog about all of them! lol Some are old and some are new.

During the Thanksgiving break Jonathan and I bought a new tree! It has some "snow", pine cones and berries that were already on it. Then we added some gold, red, and green ornaments! Our tree still needs some work (more bigger ornaments and bows) but we will keep adding as the years keep coming ! Thought I would show it with the lights off and on! ;)

One of my favorite Christmas decorations is my Willow Tree Angel Nativity! I have been collecting this for a couple of year and this is the first time that it is all complete! LOVE IT! It's on the floor right now since there is no where else to really put it.

So a few weeks ago when we were going to the lake, driving down 121, I spotted a Rosa's Tortilla Factory! I was beyond excited! It's actually in Coppell. This is my favorite fast food mexican restaurant. They have one in the HEB area and Southlake I think but they were too far away. This is much closer! This will definitely be our stop on the way back from the lake now!

One of my dearest friends, Candace, came to read to my class a few weeks ago! She had the day off (she is not a teacher) so she came to read to my class and our friend Nicole's class. It was also her birthday that week so my class made her a cute birthday sign! They loved you Candace!

And for my last random picture....I finally finished my grandma's quilt that I am giving to her for Christmas! It turned out a lot better than I thought it would! Now if only I can finish my quilt that I started for my self! It's almost done!

I think that's all my randomness for today! :)

5 Months!

Tis the season to be thankful....which actually should be all year long and it definitely is for me! There is so much that I have been blessed with this past year! First off I have to say that I am beyond thankful for such an amazing wonderful husband these past 5 months! I can't believe it's been that long since we got married. Of course I say that every time its another month and I am sure I will always say that! And I can't attach a picture without the two of us!

This pic was taken at our rehearsal dinner at BJ's in Plano. This was the table we sat at when we first met each other! lol Who would have thought 3 years later we would be getting married!

With that being said he also has brought some pretty great in-laws into my life. I couldn't be more thankful for them! I also am very thankful for my family! My parents actually came down and stayed with us this whole Thanksgiving week! It was great to see them since we hadn't seen them since the wedding! This year we had Thanksgiving at our house with my parents and Jonathan's parents. We did that last year too but this time it was "our house" and not just "his house". It turned out great actually! I even made a sweet potato casserole from scratch...thanks to Paula Deen! It was actually pretty good!

Everyone but my dad...he was the picture taker!

And of course after eating we watched football all day long but unfortunately none of our teams won! (we have got to get more seating in our living room!)

And as you can see we also decorated for Christmas! Love this time of year! I am definitely blessed beyond measure!

Friends Forever!

So one of my favorite-est friends ever, D'Lynn, came into town this weekend! We were college roomies and she was my maid of honor at the wedding! We didn't get to hang out till Monday evening...one evening is better than nothing though! Our lives are so busy now that I am married and she has a little girl, our times when we see each other are short but super sweet! I also got to see her daughter, Brooke, who just turned 1 in September. Brooke was actually walking this time!! So fun to watch her grow! Here are a few pictures from their visit! We hung out at the house then went to dinner at Chuy's!

She still wasn't sure about Jonathan who was taking the picture!

How can you not love this cute little face and all those gorgeous curls!

Mommy and her little girl!

Christmas Cards!

I am so very excited about taking pictures for our first ever Christmas card as a married couple! I know it sounds a little silly but I always have recieved cards from my friends and their families and now I get to send them out this year! The best thing though is my friend told me about this deal on Shutterfly where if you blog about Shutterfly and their new holiday cards you will recieve 50 free ones! It couldn't get any better! They have some super cute cards too! I found a few that I thought were pretty cute, although I will not be showing you the cards we will be getting! ;)

Check out the rest of the holiday cards here... http://www.shutterfly.com/cards-stationery

Besides just getting Christmas cards you can do all sorts of other things like calendars, collages and photo books. I definitely love the photo books. We are actually in the process of creating our own photo book from our wedding pictures! It's so easy!

http://www.shutterfly.com/photo-books/custom-path

Another cool thing about Shutterfly is that you can create your own free online photo sharing album. This is definitely good to organize all your photos and to be able to quickly share them with friends and family! http://www.shutterfly.com/nav/signedOutShare.sfly

To get this good deal all you have to do is go to this link http://bit.ly/sfly2010 then blog about it on your blog!! Super easy!

4 months!

I have been Mrs. Phelps for 4 whole months now! It's seems like it has been longer but then again it doesn't. :) Almost 2 weeks ago Jonathan and I took a trip to Arkansas. We just rented a cabin for the weekend just for fun! We definitely needed a weekend away to relax. I love taking trips especially with Jonathan. As of right now we are planning a Christmas roadtrip to Virginia to see his side of the family. We plan on stopping a couple of times to stay the night and sight see!

So for this 4 month post I thought I would post some pictures of our trips we have taken together in the last couple of years!

Our cabin in Arkansas! (2010)

Nothing is complete without a trip to Austin and to see the Longhorns game...but this was when they were actually good! ;) (2008)

Our first visit to New York during Christmas! (2008)

San Francisco and Napa Valley trip! (2008)

Virginia, Colonial Williamsburg, and Outer Banks of NC
(2010)

Our honeymoon in Oahu, Hawaii!
(2010)

Obviously I can't post every trip picture but those are a few. I can't wait to take more trips as a married couple!!

Love is in the air...

Another good reason October has been an awesome month is that one of my bestest friends got engaged last Thursday!!!! I am beyond thrilled and excited for Candace and Mark. Mark is one very lucky guy! I have known Candace since college, we were sorority sisters. After college we both moved to Dallas and become even better friends! Oh I love her!! She was also one of my lovely bridesmaids!!

Candace, I stole this picture off your facebook! ;)
Jonathan and I are so happy for you and Mark!! I can't wait for your wedding!!! Love ya!

Oh October, you have been good to us!

So this month has been crazy busy at work and at home...between going out of town, my brother visiting, buying our new car, and everything else! But it has ALL been worth it!!

First off we signed our lives away last Monday on our new car!!! We FINALLY have it!! We were at the dealership for a good three hours...never knew it would take that long. I will honestly say that when we came home without my red honda and with our new car I was sad for a while. It sounds crazy but I had that red car for almost 11 years and have had many good memories with it. But I did get over it! ;) I'll have to find a picture of me with the red honda when I first got for my 18th birthday...it's quite humorous!  But I absolutely LOVE our new car.  It looks a lot bigger in these pictures than it really is!

Getting our new car worked out great because my brother and his new girlfriend came into town this past weekend to visit so we got to drive them around in our new car!! I wish I had a picture of Josh and Heather but I don't. We had fun with them. We grilled out on Saturday and watched the Rangers win...and are now headed to the World Series!!! Soooo excited for them.

On a side note, I have watched more baseball in the last couple of weeks than I have ever watched in my entire life. I actually like it now and I can't wait to go to more Rangers games next season! I also understand it a lot better now...I keep asking Jonathan questions about stuff that is going on....maybe I should call up Coach Toth instead, huh Taren!?!

On Saturday it rained ALL day long so we didn't get to take them sailing so we just hung out at the house then Josh and Heather went out on a nice date that night while Jonathan and I acted like an old married couple and rented a movie...but it was nice!  Then Sunday they headed back home. It was a very nice relaxing weekend with them!! Can't wait for them to come back!!

Oh I almost forgot...while they were in town I baked HOMEMADE cinnamon rolls!! I know you can't believe it but I did!!! They were actually good too!!!! So very proud of myself!!!! Just to prove it I posted a pic...half of them were already eaten before I took the pic! ;) YUMMY!!!! Watch out Martha Stewart!! ha! Just kidding!

It's beginning to look a lot like Fall...

I am so excited that it's the fall season! This is by far my favorite season! I love the smells and colors of fall! Fall season also means football, which I do love! It reminds me of growing up and my dad watching the football games every weekend. Unfortunately this year our football teams, Cowboys and Longhorns, are awful! But we still watch them when we can!

Of course we definitely had to watch the UT/OU game. I got too bored to watch the whole game so Candace and I retreated to the backyard for some girl talk and let the boys watch the rest of the game.

Besides football I also have decorated a little for the fall season! I thought I bought a lot of decorations but when I actually put them around the house it didn't seem like much. Here are a few pics of some of our decorations...

I love this metal pumpkin sign! We got it at Canton Trade Days! And yes we know our bushes need trimming...we are actually getting right on that! ;) If you can't tell that's one of our yellow/orange mums...it's not quite blooming al the way!

I wanted to do this gorgeous pumpkin arrangement with metallic paint but I just haven't gotten around to it. I found the idea off this random blog I found. My friend did it and they turned out amazing!
Maybe I will save it for next year! I'm already wanting to buy Christmas stuff! I just keep telling myself to enjoy fall first! ;)

Here is our mantle...
I have other little decorations around the house but this is the main area for my fall decorations. I can't wait to add to my seasonal decoration collections each year!

This weekend Jonathan and I will be traveling to Arkansas! We have been waiting for this for a few months now! I found a cute log cabin that we are renting for the weekend! Can't wait for our fall getaway! Hopefully this will turn into a yearly trip! I'll be posting pics of that trip next week!

Happy Fall!

Texas State Fair!

This week Jonathan and I decided to go to the fair! We really just wanted to go to see if our soon to be new car (acadia denali) was at the auto show....we have only seen pictures online. We also had two free tickets....since I am a teacher I got a free ticket and his mom is too so we used hers! Thanks Karon! ;) We went during the week after work which was so nice! We parked super close and it wasn't even that crowded! Oh and did I mention the perfect weather...AMAZING! I heart fall!

We were kind of having our doubts that we would get to see what our car would look like in person but once we made it to where all the GMC cars were at we spotted it!!! I was beyond excited!! Unfortunately they had it all blocked off so we couldn't really get too close to it! We should have our new car by the beginning of November! (Marina....can you believe I still drive that red honda...almost 11 years later!!!! haha...I remember when we both go our red cars our senior year! Oh so long ago!)

You definitely can't go to the fair without getting a Fletcher's Corny Dog and taking a picture in front of Big Tex! Oh so fattening and good!!!
I also probably added about 10 more pounds when we decided to try a few other fried foods! While we were waiting in line to get our corny dog this lady was talking about how good the fried butter was and that it tasted like a really buttery biscuit! Of course I was like I do like biscuits and thought that I would definitely have to try it.
Boy was that lady wrong! It was so disgusting!!! It was like eating raw cinnamon/honey dough with butter! I only ate half of one of them. (Oh, by the way, Jonathan and I shared all the foods we tried! lol)

We also tried the fried frito pie! Now I was not to thrilled to try this but Jonathan insisted that we do....
and it was SO GOOD! I would definitely recommend this! It may not look good but it was!!

Up next was the new fried margarita! They got a small plastic margarita glass and put pieces of funnel cake inside, poured a little bit of margarita on it, and topped it with whip cream....
This was NOT GOOD!!! It tasted like pieces of soggy bread in some nastiness! Blah!!!! Jonathan thought it was ok though.

Our last thing we decided to try was the fried pizza. I am not sure if this was new or not. It was just a regular slice of pizza with some batter over it then they just fried it.
Now this was really good! I could eat this all the time but then again I would balloon up like an elephant!! Out of everything we tried this was the best by far!

And nope if you are wondering, we didn't try the fried beer. It probably would have been nasty anyways! ;)

The Cotton Bowl is right in the middle of the fair!! The site of this Saturday's UT/OU game! We are not going (maybe one year! Jonathan has been before though.) but we do hope UT pulls through with a win. Realistically though I highly doubt it! But GO LONGHORNS anyways!
