4 months!

I have been Mrs. Phelps for 4 whole months now! It's seems like it has been longer but then again it doesn't. :) Almost 2 weeks ago Jonathan and I took a trip to Arkansas. We just rented a cabin for the weekend just for fun! We definitely needed a weekend away to relax. I love taking trips especially with Jonathan. As of right now we are planning a Christmas roadtrip to Virginia to see his side of the family. We plan on stopping a couple of times to stay the night and sight see!

So for this 4 month post I thought I would post some pictures of our trips we have taken together in the last couple of years!

Our cabin in Arkansas! (2010)

Nothing is complete without a trip to Austin and to see the Longhorns game...but this was when they were actually good! ;) (2008)

Our first visit to New York during Christmas! (2008)

San Francisco and Napa Valley trip! (2008)

Virginia, Colonial Williamsburg, and Outer Banks of NC
(2010)

Our honeymoon in Oahu, Hawaii!
(2010)

Obviously I can't post every trip picture but those are a few. I can't wait to take more trips as a married couple!!

Love is in the air...

Another good reason October has been an awesome month is that one of my bestest friends got engaged last Thursday!!!! I am beyond thrilled and excited for Candace and Mark. Mark is one very lucky guy! I have known Candace since college, we were sorority sisters. After college we both moved to Dallas and become even better friends! Oh I love her!! She was also one of my lovely bridesmaids!!

Candace, I stole this picture off your facebook! ;)
Jonathan and I are so happy for you and Mark!! I can't wait for your wedding!!! Love ya!

Oh October, you have been good to us!

So this month has been crazy busy at work and at home...between going out of town, my brother visiting, buying our new car, and everything else! But it has ALL been worth it!!

First off we signed our lives away last Monday on our new car!!! We FINALLY have it!! We were at the dealership for a good three hours...never knew it would take that long. I will honestly say that when we came home without my red honda and with our new car I was sad for a while. It sounds crazy but I had that red car for almost 11 years and have had many good memories with it. But I did get over it! ;) I'll have to find a picture of me with the red honda when I first got for my 18th birthday...it's quite humorous!  But I absolutely LOVE our new car.  It looks a lot bigger in these pictures than it really is!

Getting our new car worked out great because my brother and his new girlfriend came into town this past weekend to visit so we got to drive them around in our new car!! I wish I had a picture of Josh and Heather but I don't. We had fun with them. We grilled out on Saturday and watched the Rangers win...and are now headed to the World Series!!! Soooo excited for them.

On a side note, I have watched more baseball in the last couple of weeks than I have ever watched in my entire life. I actually like it now and I can't wait to go to more Rangers games next season! I also understand it a lot better now...I keep asking Jonathan questions about stuff that is going on....maybe I should call up Coach Toth instead, huh Taren!?!

On Saturday it rained ALL day long so we didn't get to take them sailing so we just hung out at the house then Josh and Heather went out on a nice date that night while Jonathan and I acted like an old married couple and rented a movie...but it was nice!  Then Sunday they headed back home. It was a very nice relaxing weekend with them!! Can't wait for them to come back!!

Oh I almost forgot...while they were in town I baked HOMEMADE cinnamon rolls!! I know you can't believe it but I did!!! They were actually good too!!!! So very proud of myself!!!! Just to prove it I posted a pic...half of them were already eaten before I took the pic! ;) YUMMY!!!! Watch out Martha Stewart!! ha! Just kidding!

It's beginning to look a lot like Fall...

I am so excited that it's the fall season! This is by far my favorite season! I love the smells and colors of fall! Fall season also means football, which I do love! It reminds me of growing up and my dad watching the football games every weekend. Unfortunately this year our football teams, Cowboys and Longhorns, are awful! But we still watch them when we can!

Of course we definitely had to watch the UT/OU game. I got too bored to watch the whole game so Candace and I retreated to the backyard for some girl talk and let the boys watch the rest of the game.

Besides football I also have decorated a little for the fall season! I thought I bought a lot of decorations but when I actually put them around the house it didn't seem like much. Here are a few pics of some of our decorations...

I love this metal pumpkin sign! We got it at Canton Trade Days! And yes we know our bushes need trimming...we are actually getting right on that! ;) If you can't tell that's one of our yellow/orange mums...it's not quite blooming al the way!

I wanted to do this gorgeous pumpkin arrangement with metallic paint but I just haven't gotten around to it. I found the idea off this random blog I found. My friend did it and they turned out amazing!
Maybe I will save it for next year! I'm already wanting to buy Christmas stuff! I just keep telling myself to enjoy fall first! ;)

Here is our mantle...
I have other little decorations around the house but this is the main area for my fall decorations. I can't wait to add to my seasonal decoration collections each year!

This weekend Jonathan and I will be traveling to Arkansas! We have been waiting for this for a few months now! I found a cute log cabin that we are renting for the weekend! Can't wait for our fall getaway! Hopefully this will turn into a yearly trip! I'll be posting pics of that trip next week!

Happy Fall!

Texas State Fair!

This week Jonathan and I decided to go to the fair! We really just wanted to go to see if our soon to be new car (acadia denali) was at the auto show....we have only seen pictures online. We also had two free tickets....since I am a teacher I got a free ticket and his mom is too so we used hers! Thanks Karon! ;) We went during the week after work which was so nice! We parked super close and it wasn't even that crowded! Oh and did I mention the perfect weather...AMAZING! I heart fall!

We were kind of having our doubts that we would get to see what our car would look like in person but once we made it to where all the GMC cars were at we spotted it!!! I was beyond excited!! Unfortunately they had it all blocked off so we couldn't really get too close to it! We should have our new car by the beginning of November! (Marina....can you believe I still drive that red honda...almost 11 years later!!!! haha...I remember when we both go our red cars our senior year! Oh so long ago!)

You definitely can't go to the fair without getting a Fletcher's Corny Dog and taking a picture in front of Big Tex! Oh so fattening and good!!!
I also probably added about 10 more pounds when we decided to try a few other fried foods! While we were waiting in line to get our corny dog this lady was talking about how good the fried butter was and that it tasted like a really buttery biscuit! Of course I was like I do like biscuits and thought that I would definitely have to try it.
Boy was that lady wrong! It was so disgusting!!! It was like eating raw cinnamon/honey dough with butter! I only ate half of one of them. (Oh, by the way, Jonathan and I shared all the foods we tried! lol)

We also tried the fried frito pie! Now I was not to thrilled to try this but Jonathan insisted that we do....
and it was SO GOOD! I would definitely recommend this! It may not look good but it was!!

Up next was the new fried margarita! They got a small plastic margarita glass and put pieces of funnel cake inside, poured a little bit of margarita on it, and topped it with whip cream....
This was NOT GOOD!!! It tasted like pieces of soggy bread in some nastiness! Blah!!!! Jonathan thought it was ok though.

Our last thing we decided to try was the fried pizza. I am not sure if this was new or not. It was just a regular slice of pizza with some batter over it then they just fried it.
Now this was really good! I could eat this all the time but then again I would balloon up like an elephant!! Out of everything we tried this was the best by far!

And nope if you are wondering, we didn't try the fried beer. It probably would have been nasty anyways! ;)

The Cotton Bowl is right in the middle of the fair!! The site of this Saturday's UT/OU game! We are not going (maybe one year! Jonathan has been before though.) but we do hope UT pulls through with a win. Realistically though I highly doubt it! But GO LONGHORNS anyways!

3 Months!

I can't believe that I have been a wife for 3 months now! Yay! I love my new "job"! So this month I have decided to post my top ten reasons why I have the best husband ever! Sorry if it's a little too corny for ya! ;)

10. He is so AMAZING at math! I know it sounds nerdy but this totally comes in handy when it comes to finances!! Before we got married he helped me with my budget and did an awesome job at it! I am so blessed that he knows what he is doing when it comes to money! Plus, when we have kids and they get passed 2nd grade math, then he can help them do their homework! haha! ;)

9. He thinks that I am the prettiest girl he knows! He is always telling me I look beautiful even when I know I don't! So glad he likes me for who I am!

8. He knows about computers...yes I know...nerdy but hey I never have to pay someone to fix computers anymore! No more GEEEK Squad for me or whatever they are called! hahaha!

7. He is definitely a Mr. Fix It! He seriously can fix ANYTHING! Before we got married his refrigerator started leaking water and wasn't working and he fixed it! And just this last weekend our he fixed the shower in our extra bathroom...it didn't have any hot water! He has taught me its better to try and learn how to fix it than pay for a new one...unless you can't really fix it! ;)

6. He wants to always make sure I am one happy girl! Pretty much this whole list sums up what he does to try and make me happy! Oh, and he helps me hang fall decorations too! ;) He is doing a darn good job too!

5. He will go to Canton Trade Days! Seriously...what guy would drop everything to go to Canton Trade Days and watch their wife shop for 4 hours and hold everything they have bought! Now this might be the only time he does but at least he did it once!

4. He works really hard! He works so much to provide for the both of us and to give us a better life for the future! I am also just very thankful he has a job!

3. He has a wonderful family! I definitely couldn't have asked for better in-laws! They are so welcoming and loving! It also helps that Jonathan doesn't have a sister, because that makes me the only girl besides his mom! ;)

2. He loves me! What more can I say!

1. He loves God!!! What more can I say!

Of course there are many many more reasons but ten is good enough for the blog! And I can't do a post without a picture so here is the very first picture I ever saw of him!

Oh I love him so much!

Weekend in San Antonio!!

About two weeks ago Jonathan and I spent the weekend in SA to celebrate one of my bestest friend's daughter's first birthday...make sense! ;) It was so good to see D'Lynn and Brooke over the weekend. I definitely wish we could have spent more time together! I am also very thankful for my wonderful husband who drove me all the way down to SA so I wouldn't have to go alone! He also braved a 1 year old's birthday party!

Here are some pics of the weekend:

How can you not love this face....

Brooke definitely loved her birthday cake!

So did Jonathan.... ;)

The next morning we ate breakfast at Cracker Barrel...Brooke was still recuperating from her party I think! ;)

Happy Birthday Miss Brooke!!! I can't wait to see you celebrate many more!

Oh and Happy Birthday to her momma too! ;) Love you!
